The
Peppercorn on Campbell is a delightful restaurant attached to the Comfort
Inn Campbell. Having dined at this restaurant a number of years ago,
it was with anticipation that we decided to try it out again (sometimes
places lose their charm and their standards). But we are happy to report
that they haven't changed a bit. The atmosphere is still that of a cosy
restaurant that's fine for larger gatherings of 20 but is an excellent
choice for that romantic dinner for two.
Now even though I and the better half were dining there,
it wasn't a romantic dinner for two as we had company. When presented
with the wine list, it wasn't any surprise to us as the Peppercorn now
stocks 18 fine wines from the Murray River region sourced through Murray
River Wines, and as we had an intimate knowledge of each wine on offer,
our company wisely asked for our opinion of which one to enjoy with our
meals. We chose the Stanton
and Killeen Shiraz Durif (unfortunately we were limited to one bottle
between four - but that's another story isn't it Ros). A nice all rounder
that went well with the dishes we ordered.
There
is certainly plenty of choice on the menu - with some of our group having
entrees and of course the better half having dessert. The evening ended
with coffee which was agreed by all to be the "right stuff".
The service was good without the undue pressure some Restaurants place
on their clientele to get their meals over. A very relaxed evening with
good food, good company, good coffee and of course damn fine wine.
The Peppercorn on Campbell is located at the Comfort Inn
Campbell, 396 Campbell Street, Swan Hill. We suggest you phone Tyrone
or Jenny on 5032 4427 for bookings, they would be only too pleased to
help you. |
