| In the early 1800's Sergeant James Brumby, having arrived in Australia with the Third Fleet, was granted some land in New South Wales on which he used to graze cattle and horses. On being posted to Tasmania a few years later, he left his horses to run wild and they became known in the area as "Brumby's horses" or more simply as "Brumby's". Today the brumby, having stood the test of tradition, is the official name of Australia's wild horses. Being tough and hardy, yet majestic and beautiful, has ensured the brumby's survival in the harsh Australian high country, where survival of the fittest reigns. Brumby Wines continues this tradition. |
