Basil's Restaurant

Mystery image - or what the heck is thatBasil's, Basil's, Basil's, what a name (but it's nothing like that early TV character from a British motel). The venue is very neat and cosy with a tasteful decor and not overly cluttered.

I decided at the outset to hop right in and have the Kangaroo. But what to drink? Well some of the gurus suggested Shiraz, some suggested Cabernet/Malbec, however being the daring soul that I am I decided I would have a Mount Prior Sangiovese but just in case we also had a Roberts Estate Cabernet Sauvignon. Now I can tell you that ordinarily Kangaroo wasn't something I would eat but I do haDoesn't it look delicious!ve to say that it went quite well with the Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon, but my pick is of course is the Sangiovese (and is only my opinion). Now some might say that neither go well together but then I think of coke and chicken, those two combinations are well sought after.

Kyle putting on the finishing touchesOur chef for the night was Kyle (well actually he's the chef everynight). Award winning and a skilled craftsman we all enjoyed what was a truly magical meal. As per usual one of the women folk decided she was going to have dessert (I dropped her off a few kilometres from home so she could walk it off). She chose the Brandied Apricot and Almond Pudding (I had a bit of a taste and thought if only I hadn't had so much Kangaroo I would have ordered one for myself). The Dessert

One of the patrons on the night, Andreas (who I might add is not associated with Murray River Wines) had a nice looking Two Toned Mousse in front of him. We thought it was pretty special and so did he, so much so we couldn't resist taking a photo of it.Two Toned Mousse
