: Riverland The Riverland incorporates the towns of Berri. Barmera, Loxton, Renmark and Waikerie. The Canadian brothers George and William Chaffey are credited with pioneering the area and establishing irrigation systems in the 1880's. The region is now famous as a prosperous and progressive horticultural and viticultural centre. Some of Australia's biggest wine producers have made the region their home. Recent years have seen the Riverland become a Mecca for a flourishing boutique wine industry. |
