Edward James Roberts was born in 1857 in Warrnambool in the State of Victoria, Australia. In 1887, he first travelled to Mildura after hearing of reports from the Chaffey Brothers who were pioneering a way of life in Sunraysia on the banks of the mighty Murray River.
Irymple packing Pty Ltd, now the Irymple Group which E J Roberts foundered in 1891 remains a privately owned family company, and the descendents of its famous founder still undertake a variety of packing, processing and manufacturing operations in the districts flourishing horticultural industry.
From this rich historical backdrop comes "Roberts Estate" a wholly owned division of the Irymple Group, utilising leading edge technology the state of the art winery produces the highest quality range of wines for both domestic and international markets. Although the name is relatively new (the first vintage was in 1998) there is over 100 years of history associated with it. In 1890 E J Roberts planted his first grapes, 6 acres of Muscat, from this grow the heritage that is associated with the winery today.
Locally sourced quality fruit is used in the production of these fine wines that result in a traditional local product. Roberts Estate wines are recognised for their quality and exceptional valve for money along with their easy drinking style. The Roberts Estate range of wines vary from spicy herbaceous Shiraz, fruity Cabernet, classic Merlot's, through to rich fruity Chardonnay's, that are all perfect for any occasion.
