Purchased in 1993 by Sue and Ian Harrison, Cape Horn Vineyard was first established in the 1860's planted primary to Shiraz and became then, as it is now, a popular stopping spot for paddle steamers and day trippers.Since the Harrison's purchase, the vineyard has seen extensive replanting with varieties such as Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Durif, Marsanne and Zinfandel. The first release of Cape Horn wines was the 1997 Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. Named after the shape of the river (reminiscent of the Cape Horn in South America), the winery also boasts an impressive eating area. Well worth the visit when you are next in the Echuca/Moama region. | ||||||
